Ask the Esthetician: Why Should I Use a Facial Masque?

Q: Why use a facial masque?

A: Think of a facial masque as the treatment part of your skin care regimen. You have your basic steps of cleansing, toning and hydrating. But there are ways to give your skin an extra “boost” and address your skin care concerns on a deeper level, this is where a masque comes into play. Masques can target all sorts of skin care needs, everything from hydration, anti-aging, hormonal imbalances, breakouts, etc.

Applying a masque once or twice a week can give your skin a deeper treatment that really complements your daily regimen and you will see better results with what you are trying to achieve–a beautiful complexion!

Taking this extra step doesn’t have to be time consuming, most of us don’t have a lot of “spare time” in our day. I tell my clients the easiest way to use a masque is to put it on at the beginning of their shower or bath and rinse it off at the end, even if you get 5 minutes with it on you will reap the benefits. One of my clients told me she puts her masque on while she’s cooking dinner – hey, whatever works!
