Practitioner Highlight: Sara, Our Lead Esthetician

My love of skin care probably began when my mom started me on a full skin care regimen at age 12. I took it very seriously, making sure to apply each product as directed every night. I chose to pursue a career as an esthetician after working for several years as a receptionist in different spas and salons. I loved talking to the estheticians about what they did, getting services from them and trying new products.

In 2003 I graduated from the Esthetics Institute in Portland, Oregon. I was fortunate to be hired right away, and thus began my career. After four years at my previous job, I gave birth to my son, Lukas. During the year I stayed home with him, I heard about Zenana Spa and Wellness Center. I loved the idea of a spa that would be welcoming and nurturing to the whole family. As a new mother seeking employment, I knew it would be important for me to be part of a family supportive community.

My greatest strength as an esthetician would be my ability to listen to my clients and hear what they really need. I can share my skin care knowledge, give them nurturing, healing touch, and listen to their worries and life stresses.

I love working with a product line that is as natural and pure as Eminence. It really follows my philosophy for overall health. I try to give my body what is best for it, whether it’s the care of my internal organs or the outer organ of my skin. I like to tell my clients, “using Eminence is like a raw food diet for your skin.” I love being able to share my skin care and product knowledge with others. Seeing the results and the glow of well-being on my clients after a facial is such a rewarding part of my job.

I have been at Zenana Spa for three terrific and fulfilling years now, and it has been just that. I have made wonderful friendships with co-workers and clients. I had a neck injury just a week after my second son, Truman, was born. One of the spa owners gave me a 2-day supply of her breast milk so I could have a medical procedure done and not have to start my infant on formula. This is one example of the amazing women with whom I am privileged to work. Many of my clients have become my friends. I have so many days when I leave work feeling tremendous gratitude that I get to do what I do. I am moved daily by the wonderful connections I share with clients and co-workers.
