I began working at Zenana Spa and Wellness Center in the Childcare Room in March 2010. It is truly a wonderful realization that I have not spent a full year here and yet I feel like a part of the team. I love my work; there is a sense of community and camaraderie here at the spa.
I moved to Portland in March 2009 from Boulder, Colorado. I love spending my time outdoors riding my bike, hiking, or snowboarding and in my free time I like to knit and go see live music. I also opened a food cart, Da-Pressed Coffee here in SE Portland this past summer and have spent most of my time working as a barista.
Every Thursday you can find me in the Childcare Room either playing games, reading stories, or building Lego cities linked with wooden railroad tracks. We follow some basic principles on how we interact with the kids creating a comfortable and caring atmosphere based on respectful communication and understanding. I cannot think of anything more rewarding then spending my time with kiddos. There is not a day that goes by that I do not learn something new from my time spent here. My day is made when I get to see happy Mamas get to take a break from their day and not have to worry about who will watch their little ones.
